For many years ASM has offered courses that have been on the cutting edge of mission’s preparation.
The new programme is very practical so that participants can put into practice what is learnt in theory. There is also a commitment from the staff to be actively involved in mentorship and guidance.
ASM places a high value on the development on Christ-like character and recognizes that this change comes through a number of personal disciplines, life experiences and encouragement from other Christians.
A life-style of prayer, worship and obedience and the experience of personal intimacy with God are encouraged on the campus.
The following activities form part of the Missions and Ministry Development Programme and would encourage personal growth:
- Corporate worship
- Small group participation
- Individual mentorship programme
- Discipleship groups
- Christian formation workshops
- Campus work duties
At ASM one of our core values is to prepare men and women for ministry in a practical way. ASM creates opportunities for people to serve God in a cross cultural environment through community development, social involvement and the preaching of the Gospel. Participants of this programme will be actively serving as volunteers in the local communities on a weekly basis, being involved in ministries such as:
- Pastoral work in local churches
- Youth and children’s ministry
- An orphan support programme
- Building and maintenance programmes
- AIDS awareness programmes
- Life skill programmes in schools
- Hospital ministry
- Field trips to local and international communities
- Rehabilitation work
ASM is committed to see our local communities touched and changed through such loving service, showing the love of God in a very real and tangible way.
Once a year, ASM will have an organised international outreach which is compulsory for all those participating in the Missions and Ministry Development Programme.
This is an amazing opportunity to gain new experiences.
All candidates are required to participate in the seminars and discussion groups, and be actively involved in every aspect of the Missions and Ministry Development Programme.
The following are some themes that are covered in the seminars, discussion groups and workshops:
- Leadership and teamwork (with adventure camps)
- Church planting
- Cross cultural issues
- Ministry planning
- Missions awareness and evangelism principles
- Transformation

- Practical health issues and community development
- Creative ministry (drama, mime, dance, puppets, clowning and drawing)

We thus also assist participants to get familiar with available tools which can be applied to enhance your effectiveness in ministry; such as:
- New Tribes Mission Strategy & Material
- International School of Ministry (ISOM) Video Schools
- Discipleship Guide books (also with a focus on Youth Ministry)
