Current participants in the programme come from many different nations. Some have just completed their secondary schooling while others are starting a second career. Living
in a community creates special and unique opportunities that could contribute to positive character development that reflects the image of Christ.
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, chapel is the first organised event. This includes a time of worship, ministry and preaching. Participants take turns to lead worship and
share, though only 2nd and 3rd years do this for the first part of the year. Tuesday, participants are allocated to a small group, which is a time of fellowship within a comfortable environment.
On Thursday morning the whole campus comes together for a time of prayer.
Afternoons are generally utilised for research, personal study or practical ministries. Just one afternoon a week is set aside for work duties on campus.
Each participant also has a daily duty for which they are responsible each term. These duties all form part of the voluntary work and ministry that all participants are required to do.
Weekends are generally free, though social events may be organised by staff or participants and it is required of all participants to regularly attend a local church.
For Sport and recreation purposes there is a swimming pool, two tennis courts, a soccer pitch, table tennis, walking trail, TV, lounge and a pool table available, all of which are regularly used.
Several times a year, soccer, volleyball, tennis and other sport matches are organised against other local teams.
ASM has a Single Ladies and a Single Men’s block with rooms and communal bathroom facilities. Double rooms with en-suite bathrooms are also available for married couples.
If available, families have the option of living in a self-catering flat that has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and 2 or 3 bedrooms.
Communal kitchen facilities: Participants share kitchen facilities that are furnished with a stove, fridge and cooking utensils. All are required to provide their own crockery and cutlery and to prepare
their own meals for breakfast and supper in the week, and all meals over the weekends.
Lunch is prepared by ASM staff and all participants and staff share this meal together.
